Gregory Rainey - Principal / Owner

Utilizing decades of expertise, Mr. Rainey provides his clients with hands-on, market driven, and specialized expertise. Serving as an Executive Consultant to key stakeholders and senior decision makers within such companies as NuOrtho Surgical, Zimmer Spine, Zimmer Trauma, RTI Biologics, and Smith & Nephew, his provides a grounded knowledge base. His clients receive his vital expertise to meet the challenges of a growing and changing industry. By guiding his clients through change management initiatives and developing action plans, he provides expertise across leadership development and sales talent performance management. Leveraging his hands-on experience, he is able to provide the unique insight that only direct experience can grant.

Additionally, based on his superb professional history and knowledge of the medical device industry, Mr. Rainey was invited to serve on the Board of Directors at RTI Biologics in 2007. Pairing his vision with strong real-world, and current-market understanding he brings innovation and a future-oriented outlook to steer key decisions for this leading biologics company. In this role, he helped deliver a key company integration where RTI acquired a major competitor, resulting in a doubling in company size.   His excellent history bringing viable products to market also made Mr. Rainey a natural fit for the Compensation and Science Committees.

Building and sustaining a solid industry presence with Stryker Corporation, as Vice President of Sales for the Orthopedic Division, Mr. Rainey partnered with fellow executives to lead the sales teams to achieve record-setting goals. Accurately assessing industry needs and utilizing a keen eye for business improvements, he led national sales organization to grow overall sales $425 million (from $588 million to $1.13 billion) in four years. His leadership was integral towards catapulting the organization from the fourth to the first-rated, fastest-growing company in the industry. 

Twice awarded company recognition as Regional Manager of the Year, Mr. Rainey’s success was fairly won--and he offers this enduring, grounded approach. Initially hired at Stryker as Regional Sales Manager, he managed a $50M territory comprised of seven independent agencies, three branches, and a 75-member sales and management team. In this role, he led turnaround efforts to achieve a 10% sales increase for a region previously performing at a 20% loss. Following this role, he led sales growth for a territory that spanned 50% of the continental United States. Mr. Rainey’s comprehensive experience brings value to companies seeking practical innovation in strategic sales and business development.

Bolstering his deep industry knowledge and innovative outlook, Mr. Rainey’s previous career successes span tenures with companies including Joint Medical Corporation and U.S. Surgical Corporation. 

Educated at Loyola University, Mr. Rainey received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Additionally, he completed executive leadership professional development through the Harvard Negotiations Seminar program and the Strategic Sales Executive program at the University of Chicago.
